About Us

Senkakukan dojo first opened in 2006. As a sword study group under Tony Alvarez Sensei of the Senpokan dojo in southern California. Originally the group's main study was in traditional Japanese sword styles of Mugai Ryu, Toyama Ryu & Zen Nihon Batto Do Renmei(ZNBDR).

Senkakukan dojo continues to study all the original sword styles it began with as well as Dentokan Aiki-Jujutsu and several other traditional weapons some of which being Uchida Ryu Tanjo Jutsu, & Isshin Ryu Kusarigama.

Training in traditional martial arts takes a true focus and dedication of the student as there is always an element of danger. Anyone thinking of taking up these studies must make themselves aware of these dangers that include the possibilities of temporary or permanent damage to the body, even the loss of life.
